硫酸銨是一種速效性肥料，用于一般農作物，可做追肥、基肥、種肥，土壤缺硫地區尤為適用。但對酸性土壤須與石灰配合(非混合)施用。此外，還可作焊藥，織物防火劑，醫藥生產的鹽析過程，食品醬色的催化劑，酵母菌培養，酸性染料染色的助燃劑和皮革的脫灰劑等。在中性和石性土壤上施用易引起土壤結板。長期施用硫酸銨會增加土壤酸性。

產品包裝、搬運及貯存
用內襯塑料薄膜袋(或內涂塑料薄膜)的聚丙烯編織袋包裝。搬運過程中輕拿輕放，防止破包。
在室外貯存時應注意防潮，防雨淋，避免在高溫下貯存，也不可與堿性物質混合存放，失火時可用水澆。

硫酸銨英文縮寫SA，分子式：(NH4)HSO4，溶于水，不溶于乙醇。水溶液帶有辛辣咸味，硫酸銨分解溫度為280℃，放出氨氣變為酸式硫酸銨NH4HSO4，溫度的變化對硫酸銨在水中的溶解度影響不大，本身相對吸濕性較小。
